India ranks No. 1 in terms of the number of Oral Cancer patients in the World.  “DO IT, BUT DO IT RIGHT” the theme for the 2023 Oral Cancer E-conclave aims to reach out to colleagues and youngsters to learn and be aware of the right interventions.

Oral Cancer is a public health issue. It is easily detectable, it is easily treatable, and more importantly, it is preventable cancer. If we have to control the disease, everyone needs to be involved from the masses to the doctors.

SELF-ORAL AWARENESS (CHOTA DAANA) – Examine the oral cavity regularly, and know what is normal to see the doctor regularly. self oral awareness regular simple examination at home every month, and a clinical examination by a general physician, dental, ENT, or surgeon can detect any lesion early. What we say – CHOTA DANA – JAB BHI DEKHO CHOTA DANA USKI JAANCH JARUR KARANA, CANCER KO BANNE DO NA NASUR, JALD KARO ISHHE DOOR.

4 Finger Tests – KNOW YOUR MOUTH OPENING – this may be just the beginning of a disaster. Regular mouth opening exercise and avoiding causing agent. Knowledge for everyone.

AVOID DISASTERs – Osteoradionecrosis, post-radiotherapy brittle tooth, and tooth decay, preoperative planning for rehabilitation, and contouring surgical intervention to give good quality of life. These need knowledge dissipation amongst the oncologists – surgical, radiation, or medical. Associating dental colleagues is a must in the management of oncology patients.

EXCEPTING TOBACCO CESSATION – understanding, influencing, and referring to a specialist for cessation. Having a Cessation Specialist in your Institution or networking is a requirement. The knowledge that Tobacco use is a disease and these patients need the right treatment. Not referring the patient to the Tobacco Cessation expert may have medico-legal implications.

WHAT MATTERS is The BEST OUTCOME FOR Oral Cancer patients. THAT’S THE THEME OF THE 3rd  ORAL CANCER E-CONCLAVE – DO IT, BUT DO IT RIGHT. All-inclusive we have to skill up and respect every professional.

To encourage the youth we have planned an E-Quiz on the theme of the day and 40 prizes to be won as scholarships for India’s first Gujarat University accredited CERTIFIED TOBACCO CESSATION SPECIALIST course! AND LUCKY DRAW EACH DAY.

Foundation for Head and Neck Oncology, Sterlings Cancer Hospitals, MAX Hospital, and GUJARAT University joined hands to bring the stalwarts in the field of oral cancer in the month of April the Oral Cancer Awareness month on ICanCaRe Sunday Live to talk about what and how to build an ecosystem to tame the KING of all cancers – ORAL CANCER.
