🌸 Empowering Women to Empower Others: The Pink Angel Movement Reaches Moradabad

“Empowered women Empowered Societies.”

This powerful belief came alive on 2nd April 2025 at RSD Academy, Moradabad, as 128 passionate participants from the fields of nursing, pharmacy, and paramedical sciences came together to attend the Pink Angel – Empower Her Course, an initiative of the ICanCaRe Women Health Initiative.

The event was not just a training session — it was a celebration of female leadership in healthcare, a call to action, and a platform to create real change at the grassroots level.

🌟 What is the Pink Angel Initiative?

Launched by ICanCaRe, the Pink Angel program is a structured training and empowerment initiative designed to build a cadre of women healthcare workers who act as community health champions. These Pink Angels are trained to:

  • Educate women about common health issues
  • Promote early detection of cancers (especially breast, cervical, and oral)
  • Facilitate access to healthcare and preventive strategies
  • Break taboos and encourage conversations around women’s health

The course has already created ripples of change across several cities in India — and Moradabad just joined the movement with a wave of enthusiasm.

🎤 Inaugural Session – A Warm Welcome

The event began with an inspiring welcome address by Dr. Garima Sharma, Convenor of the Moradabad program and Director at RSD Hospital. She emphasized the importance of reaching out to underserved women and was thrilled to host the program at RSD Academy.

🩷 A Chief Guest Who Walked the Talk

The event’s highlight was the deeply personal and moving address by Dr. Gurusahran Kumar, a cancer winner and the day’s Chief Guest. Her powerful message touched the hearts of all present:

“Early detection saved my life. Now it’s your turn to save others.”

She urged the newly trained Pink Angels to become advocates in their homes, clinics, and communities — changing one life at a time.

💡 Introducing the Pink Angel Philosophy

Prof. Dr. Pawan Gupta, M.Ch., Senior Director of Surgical Oncology at Max Vaishali and Founder of ICanCaRe, introduced the Pink Angel concept with passion and clarity. He described Pink Angels as the bridge between medical expertise and community awareness. He reminded participants that common women’s health issues often go unnoticed — until it’s too late — and that Pink Angels are vital in changing that narrative.

Dt. Sonal Bhatia, Co-Convenor and a senior nutritionist, shared stories of her own experience supporting women through simple nutritional interventions. She highlighted the emotional strength and empathy women bring when supporting one another, making the Pink Angel mission truly women-led and community-focused.

Dr. Rashi Agrawal, Senior Clinical Oncologist and Director at ICanCaRe Women Health Initiative, shared her commitment to enrolling more Pink Angels across India. She emphasized the importance of this network in increasing screening, vaccination, and awareness in both urban and rural belts.
