ORAL ONCOLOGY CONNECT – RTM with ENT Specialists of Moradabad

It was a great interactive session with the ENT specialists of Moradabad.

Dr. Gagan and I interacted in detail about the latest change in attitude and outcome especially for head and neck cancer patients focusing on the quality of life without compromising on the quantity of life.

Dr. Pawan Gupta MS (Gen.Surgery), M.Ch. (Onco-Surgery), Director of Surgical Oncology and Dr. Gagan Saini, Director of Radiation Oncology discussed cases and presented the recent development and outcomes of patients at MAX Vaishali.

Dr. Pawan Gupta showcased how cases at MAX are treated differently during surgery with a Frozen section and sentinel node biopsy with organ preservation without compromising the surgical principles.

Dr. Gagan showcased how contouring patients with preservation of vital structures helps patients to tolerate radiotherapy better with the latest machines like Tomotherapy and techniques like IGRT and IMRT available at MAX.

Dr. Pawan also highlighted self-examination and clinical examination, by 4 finger test and Chota Daana examination of the oral cavity on a regular basis, especially for high-risk tobacco users. TRISCaRe the innovative mouth opener device was also demonstrated.

The program was arranged by Mr. Deepak Bhatnagar, Mr. Kamal Singh, and Mr. Surjeet Singh of the MAX Vaishali Sales and Marketing team.

The program was attended by 11 ENT Specialists led by Dr. Sandeep Bharangar and Dr. Saurabh Agrawal with the presence of senior ENT specialists from Moradabad.

Panel Discussion on Addiction and Prevention – Nasha Mukt Bharat by IIM – Jammu

An insightful panel discussion on “Recognising the Signs of Addiction: Early Intervention and Prevention Strategies.” was organized by the Digi-Health Club of the Indian Institute of Management – Jammu. On 26th June 2023 online. 106 participated in the online program.

The event was to shed light on the crucial aspects of addiction recognition and explore practical strategies for early intervention and prevention.

Distinguished panelists who shared their expertise and insights during the panel discussion, included:

· Panelist 1: Dr. Arati Chowdhary (Oral Physician and Dental Oncologist at SRJ CBCC Cancer Hospital & Research Centre)

· Panelist 2: Ms. Pallavi Singh (Program Director, JK Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses)

· Panelist 3: Dr. Pawan Gupta ( Director- Surgical Oncology, Max Healthcare)

· Moderator: IIM Jammu/AIIMS Jammu

The panel discussion provided a comprehensive understanding of addiction and equip participants with the necessary knowledge to recognize early signs. The most important intervention was to have a sustained effort in all the education Institutes by adopting SAVE the Youth campaign and capacity building across society by TOBACCO MARSHALs in the Institute for a sustained effort which will bring the desired change. TOBACCO MARSHALS are empowered with knowledge equipped and ready to work for society. It was emphasized that not a single puff or chew, no experimentation. BE CAREFUL AND FEARFUL of the people taking tobacco or drugs, these substances are not socially or professionally acceptable anymore, and anyone using these drugs is a social outcast and not cool but a fool.

Dr. Pawan insists on dedicated Tobacco Cessation Centres by Certified Tobacco Cessation Specialists who really work with the patient to completely quit tobacco. NRT available in various forms is a mediator for behavior change to be used for a limited period on the patient with the goal of complete cessation.

SAVE the youth campaign by ICanCaRe is a complete end-to-end intervention program for Tobacco Cessation and Control. ICanCaRe is the only organization working dedicatedly and successfully Tobacco Cessation program at MAX Vaishali. It now intends to collaborate with other hospitals to set up similar programs.
